The photographs below show the Southampton Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania farmhouse of Allen and Gladys (Bittner) Korns and two of their children. The boy is their oldest son Melvin Lester Korns. The girl is Estalene Korns, the mother of the Korns.org web administrator L. Dietle and the only daughter of Allen and Gladys Korns who survived to adulthood. She was born in April of 1933, so this picture is probably from 1938 or 1939. The debris is wood that was being used for butchering. The second photograph is an enlarged detail from the first photograph. The third photograph appears to have been taken on the same day.
