The dining portion of the Korns kitchen

This photo, which was provided by Dana (Dietle) Moore, was taken in the dining area of the kitchen in the farmhouse of Allen and Gladys (Bittner) Korns, with the camera facing west. The woman in the foreground is their daughter Estalene. The man in the background is their son Luther, who is with his wife Faith.

The wallpaper pattern helps to date the photo. The wallpaper is the same as in a November 22, 1952 picture of the same room, and is different from the wallpaper in a February, 1954 picture.

The doorway that is visible behind Estalene's head leads into the living room. The doorway that is visible to the right of Estalene's head and shoulder opens to the staircase that leads upstairs.

The swinging door (not shown) to the room known as the dining room was generally to the right of where the photographer was standing. Estalene's son Lannie, born in 1953, never saw the so-called dining room actually being used for dining.
