Site of former Lepley blacksmith shop, Somerset County, Pennsylvania

These bricks and wagon tyre mark the place where the blacksmith shop was located on the Southampton Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania farm that was formerly owned by Samuel Lepley, and then by his son Alonzo Lepley. The shop was located at approximately 39.75349325598307, -78.82261071601873. Since this is the farm where the Lepley gunsmithing tools and leftover gun parts were found, the blacksmith shop may have also been used for gunsmithing activities. The picture was taken decades ago. In the summer of 2026 I learned from the owner of the property that the tree is no longer there.
