The following photos were provided by Dana (Dietle) Moore, daughter of Roy E. Dietle. In the first photo below, Roy E. Dietle (born in 1932) is on the tricycle, and his older brother Irvin Dietle, Jr. is on the bicycle. Both individuals are sons of Irvin Dietle, Sr. who lived on White Oak Hollow Road, Larimer Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
The next image shows the back of the above photo.
In the next photo, the larger individual is Roy E. Dietle, and the baby is Roy's youngest brother Ralph Dietle. The location is the farm of Irvin Dietle, Sr. on White Oak Hollow Road. I (L. Dietle) don't remember seeing the buildings in the background in any other photo, and I don't remember seeing the buildings when visiting the farm. The suit Roy is wearing appears in at least one other old photo on this website.
In the 1940s, Roy used to ride his bicycle over to Sam Baer's place on Warren's Mill Road to watch movies that were projected onto a sheet. One night he was on White Oak Hollow Road bicycling home from Sam Baer’s place when a panther screamed at him from near the edge of the road. That encouraged him to pedal much faster. One other time Roy was bicyling on White Oak Hollow Road when something got caught between the front tire and fender. That locked up the front wheel, which flipped the bike over.
