In regard to the following Bridegum School class photo, Lisa Mathews Frazier who wrote that her great-grandmother "Annie Louise (Martz) Poorbaugh ... attended Bridegum school in the 1880's/90's. Then after attending 'Normal School' for a few months, she became the teacher. The class photo must have been 1896 or 1897, because after teaching at Bridegum for a short time, she roomed with a family in Wellersburg and taught there. Annie's sister, Bertha (Martz) Sturtz Beck also taught at Bridegum School." Lisa also wrote, "The little girl is holding a slate that says 'Annie Martz, Teacher.' Little boy in front holds the 'Bridegum School' slate."
