The photo below, which was provided by Mike McKenzie, is one of a number of railroad-related photos that were rescued from some Cumberland, Maryland area trash years ago by one of Mike's friends.
The photo shows a Western Maryland crew extinguishing a rail car fire. I wonder whether it is an accidental fire or a training exercise. In my opinion, the sheer number of people in the photo, and their relaxed posture, seems to suggest a training exercise rather than an actual emergency.
