Lepley brass sheet remnant, Somerset County PA

This 2.8" long piece of hammered brass sheet was found in a bucket of old Lepley rifle parts and gunsmithing tools in Southampton Township, Somerset County, PA. Such material would have been used for various purposes, such as making decorative inlays, repairing stocks, etc. This suggests that at some point in the history of the gunshop, the gunsmiths were producing their own inlays, rather than relying on commercially procured items.
