This broken escutcheon was found in a bucket of old Lepley rifle parts and gunsmithing tools in Southampton Township, Somerset County, PA. The purpose of this part was to protect and reinforce the stock in the area where the transverse keys retain the barrel to the stock. This piece is 1.14" long, and is made from non-ferrous material.
