Hand-cranked drill press, Allen Korns farm
The following photos show the hand-cranked drill press that is located in the workshop on the Allen Lester Korns farm. I remember the drill press from seeing it in the workshop in the 1950s and 1960s. The middle daughter of Melvin Korns remembers cranking it for her father. I took these photos in December of 2023, when the old work shop appeared to be in danger of falling down. Rather than entering the building, I took these photos by holding my cell phone through a hole in the exterior wall. I couldn't get the phone far enough away to show the entire drill press, so I took separate photos of the top and bottom portions of the drill press. The drill press may date back to when Allen's father Wilson Korns owned the farm in the pre-electricity days.
