These hand-forged brackets — which are sometimes referred to as "Injun Bars" in Somerset County, Pennsylvania — were used to bar the front door of the old Lepley stone house in Southampton township. The brackets held a wooden beam that prevented the door from being forced open. The last upstairs room had similar brackets. These brackets were removed by one of my first cousins, and saved, when the Lepley stone house was demolished.
