Baltimore & Ohio trains at Queen City Station

The following vintage photos, which were provided by Mike McKenzie, are from a cache of railroad-related photos that was rescued from some Cumberland, Maryland area trash years ago by one of Mike's friends.

The first photo shows a train pulled by Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) engine 76 at the Queen City Railroad Station of Cumberland, Maryland, headed west. Click Here to see a US Department of the Interior map of the Queen City Station/B&O rolling mill area. (Originally, I mistakenly thought this was an engine numbered 761, but Kennard Wing reported that "What appears to be a one is the side of the raised number board.")

The next photo also shows engine no. 76 at the Queen City Station, although the engine number is difficult to read. People standing and walking near the engine help to provide a sense of scale.

Mike reports that the next photo shows B&O engine no. 3 at the Queen City station of Cumberland, Maryland, headed east. Kennard Wing reports that "The engine numbered 3 was delivered in 1942 and renumbered 103 in 1948, so that bookends the time of the photo."
