The following August 4, 1804 plat by Ninian Cochran shows a survey for a road that is clearly the antecedent to the present-day Route 47 that extends from Barrelville, Maryland northward to the Mason-Dixon line. The plat also shows that the Turkey Foot Road was the antecedent to Route 36 at Barrelville.
