The following image, which was provided by Aimee Benitez, shows a souvenir card from the 1896-1897 term of School District No. 9 in Brothersvalley Township of Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
The following excerpt is from the Brothersvalley Township map in the 1876 county atlas. It shows that district no. 9 encompassed the village of Hays Mills, and the only school within the district was at Hays Mills.
The following excerpt from a 1929 topographic map identifies the location of the school in the village of Hays Mill. Estimating from the map, the school must have been somewhere in the general vicinity of 39.85012449555288, -78.97908754333145.
The following May 4, 1939 aerial photo shows a building that seems to be in about the right location to be the District No. 9 schoolhouse.
