This 1999 photograph shows a close-up of the stone spring house at the Michael Korn/Korns, Sr. family homestead in Southampton Township, Somerset County, PA. This was a two story building; note the rectangular holes in the walls for receiving the floor beams. The left-hand end of the lower story incorporates a masonry covered brick water trough, which would have been used for cooling food. A broken, carved stone trough lies near the spring house.
