As shown below, page 65 of the 1878 book "Introduction to a History of Ironmaking and Coal Mining in Pennsylvania" states "Somerset furnace, at Forwardstown, was built by Huber, Linton & Myers in 1846, and afterwards owned by G. Ross Forward; and Wellersburg was built by the Union Coal and Iron Company, in 1856, under the management of G. Ross forward. All the furnaces and forges in Somerset county have been abandoned."
