SAMUEL GAUMER Administrator of Estate of SAMUEL WITT to JOHN LONG
This Indenture Made the eleventh day of June in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty Six, Between SAMUEL GAUMER Administrator of All and Singular the Good and chattels rights, and credits which were of SAMUEL WITT late of Southampton Township deceased of the first part and JOHN LONG of the same place of the other part.
Whereas the Said SAMUEL WITT in his lifetime and at the time of his death was Seized in his demise as of fee of in and to one hundred and fifty Acres and allowance of land situate in Southampton Township Somerset County and State of Pennsylvania bounded and described as follows to wit. Beginning at a chestnut on a tract Warranted in the mane of JAMES BLACK and running South forty _ degrees West one hundred and Sixty two perches to a post then by more lands of the Said deceased forth forty nine degrees east Eighty Six perches to a post thence South eighty five degrees East one hundred and Seventeen perches to a post thence north forty one degrees east ninety one perches to a hickory thence north forty eight degrees West one hundred and eighty three perches to the Beginning with the appurtenances. And Whereas at an Orphans Court held at Somerset in and for the County of Somerset on the eighth day of December one thousand eight hundred and forty two upon the Petition of SAMUEL GAUMER the Administrator aforesaid Stating inter alia to the Said Court that the personal estate of the Said Deceased was not sufficient to pay the debts of the Said Intestate and prays the Court to direct a Sale to be made of the real estate of Said intestate among which was included the land above described it was Considering and directed by the said court that the real estate of said intestate Should be Sold at public Sale in pursuance of which Said order the said SAMUEL GAUMER, Administrator, as aforesaid after having given due public and timely notice on the time and place of the Sale did on the 4th day of October one thousand eight hundred and forty four _ a portion of the real estate of Said deceased to Sale by public vendue or Outcry and Sold the premises above described to wit One Hundred and fifty acres and allowance to JOHN LONG for the sum of six hundred Dollars he being the highest bidder and that the best price bidden for the Same which Sale on report thereof made to the Judges of the Said County was on the Sixth day of December following by them Confirmed and it was Considered and adjudged by the Said Court That the Same Should be And remain firm and Stable forever, as the records and proceedings of the Said Court relation being thereunto had will at large appear. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the saide SAMUEL GAUMER for and in Consideration of the Sum of Six hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the Said JOHN LONG his heirs Executors and Administrators, by these presents hath Granted bargained Sold released and Confirmed and by these presents in pursuance and by order of Said Court do Grant bargain Sell Release and confirm unto the Said JOHN LONG and to his heirs and assigns. All that above described one hundred and fifty Acres of land & allowance be the same more or less. Together with all and Singular other the houses, out houses, buildings, stables, ways, water, Water Courses, rights Liberties privileges hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversions and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof And also all the estate right, title, interest, claim and demand whatsoever of the Said SAMUEL WITT at and immediately before the time of his decease in law or equity or otherwise howsoever, of, in, to, or out of the Same. To have and to hold the Said piece or parcel of one hundred and Fifty Acres of land hereditaments, and premises hereby granted or mentioned and intended so to be with the appurtenances unto the said JOHN LONG his heirs and assign to the only proper use and behoof of the Said JOHN LONG his heirs and assigns forever. In Witness whereof the Said SAMUEL GAUMER hath hereunto Set his hand and Seal the day and year first above written.

Received on the day of the date of the foregoing Indenture form JOHN LONG the Consideration money ($600) in full.

On the day of the date of the foregoing Indenture personally came before me a Justice of the peace in and for Said County SAMUEL GAUMER the foregoing Grantor and died then and there in due form of law acknowledge the foregoing Indenture to be his Act and deed in obedience to the order of Court therein offered to, for the purposes therein expressed to the intent that the Same might be recorded as such. In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal.
