Francis R. Korns on 1913 Modern Woodmen of America post card

Rear of Francis R. Korns 1913 Modern Woodmen of America post card

This 1913 postcard shows Francis R. Korns as a member of the Executive Council of the Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal benefit society that was founded in 1883. By 1910, membership totaled one million.

Here is what the 1949 book "The Genealogy of Michael Korns, Sr. of Somerset County Pennsylvania" says about Francis R. Korns:

"Francis R. Korns, graduated in Law at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, in 1899, and practiced there nine years when he was elected treasurer of the Modern Woodmen for a term of three years, handling thirty million dollars without a loss of a dollar. He was then elected a Director and has that office since. He is also a regent of Drake University. He was born 1873."

If I understand the Korns book correctly, Francis R. Korns was the son of Joseph Korns and his wife Martha (Moore) Korns, and was the grandson of William Korns; William was the youngest son of Michael Korns, Sr.
