When I was a young boy, dad told me that back when he was working as a logger, he found a dead man in the woods. (This story is referenced obliquely in a footnote on page 4 of my book "In the Land of Used to Be.") When I mentioned dad's story to some folks last year, they found the following newspaper clippings for me, which identify the deceased individual and indicate that his remains were found on January 21, 1952. The first two articles misspell my father's name, which is Roy, rather than Ray.
Dad also told me that as a result of all the exercise he got as a logger, he easily passed the Army physical when he was drafted, but after six weeks of boot camp he couldn't pass the physical anymore because he wasn't getting as much exercise.
