The following images (provided by Kevin Henry) show an official 1874 copy of an 1808 land warrant to Christian Sturtz for "Seventy five acres of Land, including an improvement joining lands of William Lydich and other lands of said Christian Startz situate in Southampton Township in the county of Somerset ... Interest to commence from the 1 April 1800". I can’t tell if this warrant pertains to my ancestor Christian Sturtz, Sr. or to his son Christian Sturtz, Jr. who was a previous owner of my grandfather Allen Korns’s farm and is buried there. I suspect it refers to Christian Sturtz, Sr. and is about property somewhere in the vicinity of Comp’s church because of the reference to a neighbor named Lydich (Leydig) — but I’m not sure. It was not possible to find the property associated with the above warrant because a corresponding survey is not identified on the warrant register, which is shown below. I also tried to find a warrant or survey for the referenced William Lydich (Leydig), to no avail.
