This page features 2010 photos of the lime kiln that is located on a cliff along Piney Run Road near the village of Salisbury in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The kiln was used to produce lime from limestone. Lime is used to help maintain soil fertility by replacing some of the elements that successive crops extract from the soil.
