The following military service records list a mystery John Korns who was born in Cumberland, Maryland. The records were provided by Don Hammond. I don't know which Cumberland Korns family this John Korns belongs to.

The first record gives an age of 22, and indicates that a carpenter named John Korns was born in Cumberland, Maryland, enlisted with Lieutenant Glendenin(?) at Cumberland on January 11, 1842, was discharged on December 11, 1846, and re-enlisted as a Private at Fort Snelling. Fort Snelling is located in what is now Minnesota. The second record gives an age of 27, and andicates that a soldier named John Korns was born in Cumberland, Maryland, re-enlisted with Lieutenant Granger at Fort Snelling on December 11, 1846, and died on February 25, 1849 at Fort Brown, Texas.
