The following photo of Sarah J. "Sally" (Deal) Bare was provided by Denise McCurdy. Denise reports that Sally was the mother of Jacob Peter Miller's wife Catherine (Bare) Miller. This photo is also included on page 592 of the 1918 book “History of the Alleghany Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Pennsylvania ,” Volume II. On a computer, you can reduce the size of the picture by reducing the width of the viewing window.
According to Wayne Bittinger’s 1986 book “The Bittinger, Bittner, Biddinger, and Bidinger Families...” Sally (Deal) Bare was a daughter of Jacob and Susanna Deal and the wife of William Bare. According to the 1963 book “Genealogy of the Relatives of William J. Miller”, Jacob Peter Miller "married Catharine Bare who was born Nov. 1840, then purchased the William Bare farm from his father-in-law in 1878."
William Bare is buried at the Greenville Union Cemetery next to his mother "Catharine wife of Lutwick Bare", where his tombstone reads "William Bare Born Mar. 30, 1813, Died Jan. 30, 1877, 63 Yrs, 10 Mos." Sally Bare is also buried at the Greenville Union Cemetery, where her tombstone reads "Sally Bare Sept. 11, 1816 Apr. 20, 1903".
