This 1999 photograph of the old farmhouse on the Michael Korns, Sr. Somerset County PA family farm shows the extension of the foundation to support the left hand end of the full-length front porch. Note the vertical seam in the foundation at the location of the corner of the house. This seam, and the fact that there are no mortises in the south wall sill plate, demonstrate that the front porch was an add-on, and was not part of the original construction of the house.
