Hervey Lovell's June 2, 1967 obituary includes the following statement: "At the beginning of World War I, he and his wife moved to New York where he was employed by the experimental division of Eastman Kodak Co. After the war, he returned to Indianapolis where he became a prominent gunsmith, specializing in custom-made rifles. He was a contributor of articles on firearms to Field & Stream and National Rifleman magazines."
