The following pages of the 1905 book "Biographical Annals of Franklin County, Pennsylvania" relate to the Michael Whitmore and Christian Wolff who founded the 1800s Pittsburgh hardware partnership named Whitmore & Wolff and reveal that Michael Whitmore was the uncle of his hardware store partner Christian Heyser Wolff.

Page 161 indicates that Jacob and Catherine (Ott) Heyser's daughter Catherine Heyser married the Michael Whitmore who was born in 1804 and died July 13, 1880. Based on the circumstances described below, it seems clear that this is the Michael Whitmore who partnered with Christian Heyser Wolff to form the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania hardware company Whitmore & Wolff. Page 161 also mentions that Jacob Heyser's Jacob and Catherine (Ott) Heyser's daughter Judith Ann Heyser married Barnard Wolff.

Page 163 mentions that Barnard Wolff "kept a hardware store at the southeast corner of Main and Queen Streets, in partnership with his brother-in-law, Michael Whitmore. " This was in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Page 162 also mentions that Barnard and Judith (Heyser) Wolff's son Christian Heyser Wolff "was for many years a member of the firm of Wolf, Lane & Co. of Pittsburgh. " Wolf, Lane & Co. was a successor of the old Whitmore & Wolf hardware partnership between Michael Whitmore and his nephew Christian Heyser Wolff.
