The inscription on the front of their shared tombstone states, "Samuel Mier Oct. 7, 1831 Dec. 19, 1909 Harriet his wife June 21, 1841 June 3, 1896". The inscription on the back of the tombstone lists the birth and death years of four children who died tragically young.
