The following information is from the 1900 book "Nelson's Biographical Dictionary and Historical Reference Book of Fayette County, Pennsylvania". A May 22, 1930 entry in the journal of Josiah V. Thompson of Uniontown, Pennsylvania indicates that on that day Alfred Johnson told him that he was born November 23, 1853 and his brother Samuel C. Johnson was born March 10, 1843. Alfred Johnson's obituary appears in the April 10, 1941 issue of "The Newark Post" (Newark, Delaware). It indicates that Alfred, who was a native of New Geneva, died as a result of a heart attack, and indicates that the funeral service would be held in his Uniontown, Pennsylvania residence.
