A tradition based story of the Engle gunsmiths
Starting at the red arrow below, this two-part article is a tradition-based 1897 story of the Engle gunsmiths, with what seem to be a few tall tales thrown in in for entertainment value. The article thoroughly mangles the Engle genealogy, calling the head of each Engle generation Ezra, and adding a few generations. In the story, "Ezra III" is Peter Engle, and "Ezra IV" and "Barnes" are Peter Engle's sons Ezra and Barnett. Despite the tall tales and genealogical errors, the article seems to also contain a thread of truth, and I think it is worth sharing.
