As stated on the main Joseph Mills, Sr. page, Joseph Mills, Sr. applied for 150 acres of property in Colerain Township, Bedford County in 1792. The application includes the statement, "Joseph Mills makes Application for 150 Acres of Land adjoining Land of Solomon Sparks on the South East on the heads of Chapmans Run Waters of Brush Creek Including also the head Waters of Willsons Camp Run Waters of Town Creek Colerain Township" Wilson's Cam Run is now known as Wilson Run, and Chapman's Run is now known as Chapman Run.
Joseph Mills' survey X-49 (below) states that it is "Situated on the Head Waters of Brush Creek & Wilson's Camp Run in Colerain Township..." and adjoins survey C-36-194 on the north and survey A-40-82 on the south. Brush Creek flows to the north. Wilson's Run is a branch of Town Creek, which flows to the south.
Survey C-36-194 (below) is located on the north side of Joseph Mills' survey X-49 and states that it is "Situated on the Waters of Brush Creek and Town Creek in the Township of Providence...". Survey C-36-194 shows the sources of three creeks, one flowing north, one flowing east, and one flowing west.
Survey A-40-82 (below) is located on the south side of Joseph Mills' survey X-49 and shows three creeks flowing south. The sources of two of the creeks are shown, and the third creek flows south from the Joseph Mills survey X49. Survey A-40-82 states, "Situated on the head Waters of Piney Run and Town Creek in Southampton Township..." Piney Run is to the west of Town Creek, and both flow to the south.
The creek that flows from the Joseph Mills survey X-49 on survey A-40-82 flows into survey A-40-83 (below), which also adjoins the Joseph Mills survey X-49. Survey A-40-83 states, "Situated on the North East Branch of Town Creek including Wilsons Hunting Camp on said Branch in Colerain now Southampton Township..." Survey A-40-83 adjoins the west side of survey A-40-82 and adjoins the south side of Joseph Mills' survey X-49.
Survey C-61-73 (below) is located on the west side of survey A-40-83 and states, "Situated on the Waters of Town Creek in Colerain Township..."
