1866: The 1983 booklet indicates that Jeremiah Bowman is listed as a gunsmith in the borough of Schellsburg in the 1866 Farquar Directory (evidently the Bedford County directory).
1870: The 1983 booklet indicates that Jeremiah Bowman is identified as a Schellsburg blacksmith in 1870 tax records.
1870: Jeremiah Bowman is identified as a laborer in the 1870 census records of Schellsburg.
1878: The following excerpt from the 1878-1879 edition of "Farquhar's Official Directory of Bedford County, Pennsylvania" identifies J. F. Bowman as a Constable at Schellsburg. A job like that would not be full time, and would be for relatively meager pay.

1880: I searched twice, and did not find a listing for Jeremiah Bowman in my very legible copy of the 1880 manuscript census records of Schellsburg.
1886: The 2001 book "Gunsmiths of Bedford, Fulton, Huntington, & Somerset Counties" indicates that the 1886 edition of "Farquar's Bedford County Directory" identifies the Schellsburg blacksmith Jeremiah Bowman as a gunsmith.
1888: The 1983 booklet indicates that Jeremiah Bowman is identified as a 40-year-old gunsmith in a militia enrollment book from 1888. This is also reported in the 2001 book "Gunsmiths of Bedford, Fulton, Huntington, & Somerset Counties".
1890: A Jeremiah F. Bowman who died December 24, 1890 is said to be buried in the Schellsburg Cemetery, and is said to have died at age 43 or 44.
Jeremiah Bowman is identified as a Bedford County, Pennsylvania gunsmith from directory listings and a militia enrollment book.
1848: The 1983 booklet "Gunsmiths and Gunmakers of Bedford and Somerset Counties Pennsylvania 1770-1900" indicates that the gunsmith Jeremiah Bowman was born in 1848.
