The following transcript of the indenture recorded on page 561 of Somerset County, Pennsylvania Deed Book 28 was prepared by Margaret Gagliardi:

"George Leidig to Benjamin Troutman

This Indenture made the fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Sixteen Between Geo Leidig of Southampton township Somerset County and State of Pennsylvania of the one part and Benjamin Troutman of the County township and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that said George Lidig for an in consideration of the sum one thousand four hundred dollars lawful money of Pennsylvania to the said George Lidig in hand paid by the said Benjamin Troutman at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Geo Leidick do hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefore and every part thereof doth acquit release and forever discharge the said Benjamin Troutman his heirs executors and administrators and every of them by these presents he the said George Leidig hath granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed release and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien enfeoff release and confirm unto the said Benjamin Troutman and to his heirs and assigns all that certain bounded tract of Land called Angers Situate lying and being on the head waters of Gladdens run formerly in Cumberland late in Bedford county and now in Somerset county Southampton township one hundred and eighty eight perches to a chestnut oak thence South eighty seven degrees east one hundred and twenty Six perches and half to a post a corner of Phillip Shroyers land thence north three degrees west one hundred and eighty eight perches and a half to a post thence north eighty seven degrees west one hundred and twenty six perches and a half to the place of Beginning containing one hundred and forty acres of land and allowances &c said tract or parcel of Land is part of a larger tract called Angers containing two hundred and Seventy nine acres granted to and by the Supreme Executive counsel of the of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania by Patent under the State Seal and they hand of William Moore Esquire President Judge of Said Counsel bearing date the thirtieth day of September Anno Domini one thousand seven and eighty two and enrolled in the rolls office for said State in Patent Book No. 4 Page 318 Patented unto the Reverend William Smith D.D. of Philadelphia which said William Smith and Rebecca his wife by their indenture truly and duly executed and bearing date the fourteenth day of February A.D. Seventeen hundred and Eighty three for the consideration therein mentioned did grant bargain and sell the said tract or parcel of land entire Alia unto Esther White, Robert Morris and William White Executors of the last will and testament of Thomas White deceased in trust nevertheless to and for the use of the estate of the said Thomas White said Robert Morris and William White surviving executors of the said Thomas White and trustees by their indenture duly executed and bearing date the twenty seventh day of March A.D. one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight for the consideration therein mentioned grant bargain and sell the said tract of land entire Alia unto a certain Mathias Harrison of the City of Philadelphia which Said Mathias Harrison and Rebecca his wife by their indenture duly executed and bearing date the thirtieth day of March A.D. Seventeen hundred and ninety eight for the consideration therein mentioned did grant bargain and sell unto the before named white the above tract of land called Angers entire Alia Which indenture is recorded in the office for the recording of deeds in and for Bedford County in Book E Page 460 &c Reference thereunto had will more fully appear and the said William White by John Anderson his attorney by his indenture bearing date the fifteenth day of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and two for the consideration therein mentioned granted bargained sell the said tract of Land inter alia to Andrew Emerick and the said Andrew Emerick by his indenture bearing date the thirty first day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and five for the consideration therein mentioned did grant bargain sell the said tract of Land inter alia unto George Lidick together with all and Singular the houses out houses building barns stables gardens orchards meadows wood waters water courses rights liberties privileges rights covenants improvements hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to said described tract in parcel of land belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversions and remainders rents issues and profits thereof also all the estate right title interest use possession property claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Geo Leidick in Law equity or otherwise howsoever of him the said Geo Leidick in Law equity or otherwise howsoever of into or out of the said described tract or parcel of land or any part thereof together also with true copies of all deeds evidences and writings touching and concerning the hereby granted promises or any part or parcel thereof to be had and taken at the costs and charges of the Said Benjamin Troutman his heirs and assigns to have and to hold the said tract of Land containing one hundred and forty acres of Land more or less with the allowance of &c as the same is above described and the premises hereby granted mentioned or intended so to be with the appurtenances unto the aforesaid Benjamin Troutman his heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said Benjamin Troutman his heirs assigns forever and the said Geo Leidig for himself his heirs do covenant promise and grant to and with the Said Benjamin Troutman his heirs and assigns by these presents that he the said George Leidig and his heirs the said Benjamin Troutman his heirs and assigns against him the said George Leidig and his heirs and against all and every other person and persons whomsoever claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
