The following information from the "Pennsylvania Archives" puts an individual named Peter Troutman at Fort Bedford in 1760. This is way too early to be the Peter Troutman who was the father of Benjamin Troutman of Somerset County and the son of Wilhelm Trautman of Berks County. The relationship between this French and Indian War era Peter Troutman and the Somerset County gunsmith Benjamin Franklin Troutman (if any) is unknown.
