The following pictures, which were provided by my sister Dana (Dietle) Moore, show a bottle with a deeply concave bottom that belonged to John and Gerty (Petenbrink) Geiger. Regarding the note, Dana wrote, "It's my writing but Mom or Dad told me who it belonged to." According to her obituary in the July 6, 1972 issue of the "Cumberland Evening Times" newspaper, "Mrs. Lydia Gertrude Geiger, 84, of RD 4, died yesterday. Born March 29, 1888, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Flora (Kennell) Petenbrink. She is survived by her husband, John H. Geiger; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Werner and Mrs. Luther Dietle, Meyersdale, RD 4; two sisters, Mrs. Calvin Bittner and Mrs. Irvin Murray, both of Meyersdale RD 4; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild."
Luther Dietle was my father Roy Dietle's brother and Calvin Bittner was my mother Estalene (Korns) Dietle's maternal grandfather. My mother was probably related to John H. Geiger somehow since her paternal grandmother was a Geiger, but I haven't tried to map out the relationship.
