The following image shows a Josiah F. Bittner in the veteran's schedule of the 1890 census. It indicates he was a member of Company D of a second regiment of Maryland Infantry. I believe this Josiah Bittner was an older brother of my ancestor Franklin Bittner. I think he is the Franklin F. Bittner who is buried in the Ridgeview Cemetery in Summit Township of Somereset County, Pennsylvania. The tombstone there gives a birth date of March 27, 1830 and a death date of July 13, 1899.
