This photograph shows the banked Southampton Township, Somerset PA family farm house of Wilson Korns. Note the white picket fence. The white object that appears to be on the roof is not a dormer, rather it is the edge of the roof of another building that is in the foreground. A surprising thing to me is that no chimney can be seen, while later photos show the white chimney that still exists in 2008.
This house has a spring-filled water trough in the basement for cold storage. When I was a boy, it was used for keeping things like watermellons cool.
