This circa 1936 picture was taken below the main farmhouse looking generally south on the Southampton Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania farm of Allen Lester Korns. The girl on the sled is Allen Korns' daughter Estalene. The boy on the right is Allen Korns' son Melvin. I'm not sure who the boy in the middle is, but it may be Allen Korns' son Luther. When Melvin and Estalene were old enough, they made or otherwise obtained what they called "Jolly Jumpers." A Jolly Jumper was a wooden barrel stave with an attached seat for snow sliding.
