The following transcript was provided to Korns.org courtesy of Margaret Gagliardi. This is the 1829 release by Daniel Korns of his 1/12 right to the property that is shown on the 1829 estate map on pages 32 and 33 of the 1949 book The Genealogy of Michael Korns, Sr. of Somerset County Pennsylvania ". The 1/12 right comes from him being one of twelve children of Michael Korn. This release is curious, because the property in question was not actualy sold at auction to Jacob Cook until June of the following year. Apparently Daniel sold his right to a portion of his father's property to Jacob Cook well before the court forced the sale of the property at auction. Daniel would have made more money if he had waited for the auction to occur.
When you look at the 1829 estate map, you will see a 178 acre tract and a 96 acre tract shown, which doesn't add up to the 284 acres recited in the release. In the 1830 deed to Jacob Cook, the larger tract is referred to as 188 acres, and I suspect that 188 acres is really the correct acreage.
