The photo scan below was provided by Mike Mckenzie, who obtained it from Barrelville resident D. Barges. Judging from the old "Barrellville" spelling, Mike suspects that the photo is circa 1909-1915. It was taken at the bottom end of Barrelville about 1/8 mile from Route 36, facing north. The lower-most sign is for the post office. Mike reports that the old post office and Star Trading Company are no longer there, but the company houses are still there at present (2009).
Another area resident told Mike that Frank Caler had said that he worked in this old store as a young man. That individual also told Mike that the attached building is the tavern/saloon. Frank
