Wellersburg iron furnace

The six images that follow are 2007 photos of the remains of the Wellersburg iron furnace. Disregard the 2006 dates on the photos; they were actually taken in December, 2007. These winter-time photos are better than most photos of the remains, because the leaves were off of the trees at the time. Note how the fire brick liner appears to be sitting atop a mound of dirt. As described above, Mike McKenzie has proven that this is actually the flu/liner projecting out of the top of the rubble that remained when Sonny Lee's father demolished the unsafe outer walls.

The photo that follows was taken by Mike McKenzie in June 2009. It shows some of the surviving stone work from the exterior of the furnace. This photograph documents the stonework that was imediately to the left of the arched opening.
