Phillip Dom genealogy

The above article is from the February, 1970 issue of the 'Laurel Messenger". The author of this piece tried to cover a great many families in Somerset County, so consider this a starting point on the Dom family, rather than the last word.

The 1949 book "The Genealogy of Michael Korns, Sr. of Somerset County Pennsylvania" indicates that Mary Korns, daughter of Daniel Korns, Sr. and his wife Elizabeth (Reiver) Korns, temporarily married a Mr. Dom and had two children with him; Amy CaDelia Dom b. April 21, 1858, and George William Dom, b. Feb. 6, 1861. For a long time, no one seemed to know which Dom she was married to. On November 11, 2006 a first cousin of mine from Somerset County PA e-mailed the following to me "I was with the Dom family the other night and they showed me a paper that showed a Mary (Korns) Shaffer that married a Josiah Dom.". The above Dom genealogy shows a Josiah Dom that may be the one who married Mary Korns.
