The photos of the Wellersburg iron furnace that are below were provided by Barrelville resident Francis Bridges in 2012. The first two photos show the interior of the brick liner, and the last two show the exterior of the liner. According to the 1966 book “Stone Blast Furnaces in Western Pennsylvania”, when one or both of the authors visited the furnace, the brick liner had been roofed over, a doorway had been cut into it, and it was being used as a chicken coop. These photos show the roof and the doorway.
