Chapter XV, 1906 Bedford and Somerset Counties History

History of Somerset County PA

Introduction
The pages below are Chapter XV of the 1906 book “History of Bedford and Somerset Counties Pennsylvania” by the Lewis Publishing Company. This chapter summarizes the 1800 through 1900 censuses of Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The main reason that this is included on Korns.org is to show the sparsely settled nature of Southampton Township, and the drop in the population of Wellersburg after the Wellersburg Iron Furnace ceased operation.
