This is a 1911 photo of the south side of the Southampton Township, Somerset County, PA house of John Wilson Korns. It previously belonged to his father, Daniel Korns, Jr.. The pile of lumber in front of the house was used for butchering. Note the huge beam that is in the pile. The individuals in the photo, from left to right, are Earl, Ella, Lester, Allen, John, Nevin, Mary and John Wilson "Wilse" Korns. This photo is typical of many Somerset County farm house photos from earlier days, in that the family are in their Sunday best, proudly posing for a photo of their fine house, with no regard for the work-associated disorder in the yard.
This photo is reproduced from volume one of the 2005 book "A Look At Southampton Township Pennsylvania The Way It Used To Be!", with permission of the author.
